Prior to this review, I had come across cbdMD’s products more than few times. My experiences with their products were actually great, but I never had a chance to fully investigate the brand.

Thanks to a recent review request from the cbdMD team, it looks like I have my chance once again.

In this review, the team and I will be assessing cbdMD’s 3,000mg tincture to identify its pros and cons and find out if cbdMD deserves to call itself, “America’s #1 Choice.”

Quality

At first glance of cbdMD’s tincture, my initial impressions were that the packaging looks very professional. Because some new users may be hesitant about using products that feature the typical Cannabis/CBD branding, I think this is a good feature.

Next, I filled the dropper to inspect the liquid and found that it was very clear and undiluted. As I released the liquid back into the bottle to assess its viscosity, I confirmed that it flowed smoothly. Both good signs so far, but we’re just getting started.

According to its website, cbdMD sources its organic hemp from farms that are part of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Industrial Hemp Program.

If you aren’t familiar with the program, its purpose is to fully understand hemp cultivation and to identify superior cultivation practices that yield the absolute best hemp. With the knowledge gained from the program, Kentucky’s Department of Agriculture intends to position its members, and the state of Kentucky, as leaders of industrial hemp production, just as they are with many other crops. To achieve their objective, the program allows a very limited number of members and monitors hemp grown under the program with the utmost scrutiny.

With some of the best farmers under the program, and backing from the government, the hemp grown under the pilot program has set a near gold standard for the industry.

By only using hemp grown under Kentucky’s Pilot Program, cbdMD can ensure maximum quality before they proceed to extraction, which is the next key process that affects quality during CBD production.

According to its website, cbdMD uses CO2 extraction to extract its CBD.

CO2 extraction is certainly not the cheapest extraction method, but it is one of the best methods because it ensures that the natural terpenes, amino acids, and other nutrients are not stripped away from the CBD during extraction.

To verify its quality, a Certificate of Authority (COA) from ProVerde Labs can be found on cbdMD’s website. According to the lab results, cbdMD’s CBD isolate contains 99.95% CBD and .02% CBDv. In our situation, the 3,000mg bottles we were testing contained 2998.5 mg of CBD and .69mg of CBDv.

One thing I would like to note is that while cbdMD does have their isolates COA readily available on their website, it is not linked to any specific product and is found on the same page as the COA for their broad spectrum CBD oil. This doesn’t necessarily have an impact on the quality of their product, but can be confusing for customers who are trying to figure out which COA validates the product they’re interested in.

Again more of an issue of usability, but aside from that, the quality of cbdMD’s tincture is top notch. Now let’s talk about how this stuff tastes!

Flavor

cbdMD’s CBD tincture is available in 4 different flavor options: Natural, Mint, Orange, and Berry.

Of their 4 flavors, we received Orange and Berry. To be forward, these were actually some of the best tasting CBD tinctures we’ve tried.

The Orange flavor tasted like a mild, citrus candy that was was sweet with a bit of tartiness, and the flavor was overall enjoyable. The Berry flavor featured a sweet blueberry flavor that reminded me of those sweet and sour squeeze tube candies (except this was all natural).

As far as flavor goes, these are unlike most options out there and are easily some of the best we’ve tried.

Price vs Value

Price was another area I was really impressed.

Aside from offering an attractive selection of CBD strengths (from 300mg to 5,000mg), cbdMD offers some of the best prices in the industry, which we’ve listed below:

With every strength option, you get good value, but you really get a steal with the 1,500mg+ options. When I asked Neil, my point of contact at cbdMD, how they were able to offer such great prices, he told me that cbdMD controls their own farms. Because of this they’ve been able to reduce their production costs, and the savings are passed down to their customers. Makes sense.

In some cases, low prices can be questionable; but in this case…it’s just a really good deal.

As we continued to investigate cbdMD and breakdown the different aspects of their product, the brand’s positive highlights continued to stack up. As we finished our review, we realized that the secret behind cbdMD’s wild popularity is really no secret at all.
